About Our Restaurant

The Scene

Alluring, Pleasant

Chan Pheng’s Mandarin Cuisine is a casual but classy place to dine. There is a 2,000 square feet dining area and an equally large kitchen. A large window allows customers to watch their dishes being prepared. The interior features wooden tables and chairs, gleaming white walls, and elegant French windows. Chinese paintings and soft lighting complete the peaceful scene.

Last year, this restaurant won a Top 100 Regional Chinese Cuisines award in the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in the USA competition.

A mystery diner raved, “We loved this restaurant. The entire place was clean and in good order. The service was exceptional, and the food was outstanding.”

The owner is a highly skilled chef with more than 20 years’ of experience.

The Food

Tasty, Variety

This restaurant differs from other places because it offers a broad variety of Guangdong, Americanized Sichuan, Beijing and Shanghai cuisines.

Guangdong cuisine uses delicacies from all over the country in all tastes, shapes and colors. Guangdong snacks enjoy the reputation of "100 kinds of snacks having 100 tastes and 100 shapes." Shanghai cuisine is juicy with oil, bright colors and original tastes.

Beijing dishes can be soft, crisp, fresh or tender. Beijing Roast Duck is a "national dish,” in addition to Braised Shark‘s Fin, Sheep’s Head in an Earthen Pot, Fried Fingered Citron and other famous dishes. Notable snacks include Small Steamed Corn Bread, Dragon Whisker Noodles, Pea Flour Cake, Shaomai, and Mung Bean Milk. Sichuan cuisine is an ancient art. By the Qing Dynasty, chili peppers had spread to all parts of China, and Sichuan cuisine used this spice to full advantage. Like a fire, Sichuan cuisine spread rapidly to reach the popularity it enjoys today.

Some signature dishes at Mandarin Cuisine are Ma Po Bean Curd, General Tso’s Chicken, Szechwan Beef, and ever-popular Chow Mein. A mystery diner said, “The house special chow mein was delicious and exceeded our expectations!”

Chow Mein:

Ingredients: vermicelli, sliced meat, sliced haricot beans, tomato, garlic, scallion, vinegar, salt and oil.

Steam vermicelli well. Cook the sliced meat and haricot beans well and set aside.

Heat oil in a wok. Put the steamed vermicelli and scallion into the wok. Stir-fry them and season with salt, garlic, tomato, soy sauce, vinegar and some water.

Add the prepared (cooked) meat and haricot beans into the wok as soon as the tomato juice and water are well mixed with the noodles. Transfer to a plate.

It’s more flavorful to enjoy this dish with smoked sausage or pork leg rolls.
