I decided to get delivery. I ordered the Wonton soup, Mandarin chicken, and the house chow mein based off previous reviews. The food quality is good but I found it rather bland and lacking flavor. I'll try them again but I probably won't order the Mandarin chicken again. Delivered by entree express, so expect the $6 delivery fee. I still prefer Tong Fong Low or Egg Roll King.

This place is probably the best Mandarin cuisine in Chico. Being from East Bay, I am very much a food snob and miss the food of the Bay Area immensely! That being said, I highly recommend this place because it is fresh, staff is great and the pricing is well in my budget. Try the sweet and sour chicken or pork!

I saw this place on yelp and my chico-native friends hadn't heard about it so we gave it a try for dinner. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent (I recommend the chicken with mushrooms) and the service was good. I did not think the prices were particularly low as a previous reviewer had suggested but they were not excessive either. We were there on a weekday evening and it only had a few patrons. I think if it were downtown it would be packed every night. The location is humble but it is clean and comfortable.Restaurant kitchens are often nasty smelly places such that you would rather not see that your meal was prepared therein. Not so here: there is a big window from the dining room into the kitchen so you can always see the kitchen and the cook at work. That's cool.I shall return.

Chan Pheng's was very good. The best Chinese food that I have had since moving to Chico. We ordered delivery, and the food arrived in 29 minutes. Very prompt! The house chow mein is very good and would recommend it to everyone. The Kung Pao was very well made, was not greasy and very good.I will be ordering again!

My grandma of all people took me here... I'm not knockin on the taste of my grandma... but she thinks Applebees is fine dining so i wasn't expecting this place to be a knockout... but it is great. The prices are SPECTECULAR too... lunch special was only like $6 and the portions so big that I took her leftovers home and she took mine (just to add a little variety)The Almond chicken was AWESOME. I mean I'm not exactly the authority on Chinese food as my asian culinary palate consists of Panda Express and California rolls, but it was good.Gma has been going here for years, so the service was friendly since she knew us, but from all of the other reviews I'm guessing they treat everyone with the same warmth and hospitality whether you are a first time customer or have been chowing down on their chow mein for eons.

Honestly, I was expecting so much more. I have been eating at this place for a few years, when they had a lunch buffet. Back then it was the BOMB!!Tonight I was very disappointed. The service was great, the place clean, but the food was really lacking any flavor. Frankly it was bad and I would not go back It was a waste of $35.00

I'll keep it brief - I like chinese food and I'm probably NOT the most fussy person... no that's not true... I'm very fussy... I'm also obsessive and I can be kind of neurotic. There - after that mea culpa let me say I love this chinese food place, particularly for lunch. It's good enough that I even tried 3 different things on their menu! Doesn't sound impressive, you should see my normal ordering history. Anyway - my girlfriend likes the food, I love the people who work here and are friendly, and my wallet LOVES the lunch time prices.

I have to agree with Donna M.'s comment, "This restaurant proves that people will come to a bad location if the product is good." I sat in my car with a friend who eventually convinced me the place was not as bad as it looked. To my surprise the food was delicious! I plan on returning this restaurant, everyone was friendly, attentive, and the food was amazing!

How I've lived in Chico for 13 years and not known that this place existed is beyond me, but I am SO glad I discovered it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of some better places I've had in San Francisco, but it is super tasty. Twice now we've had the Mu Shu Pork (some of the best I've ever had), house special chow mein, and Mandarin Chicken, which my honey loves and is hard to find. The service is fast and you can watch them cook your food through the large window in front of the kitchen. Oh, and no MSG, which is perfect, as I do not get a headache afterward.

This is High End Chinese Food at its BEST. Rated as one of the top 100 in the nation, and well deserving of it. Try the Tofu & Vegetables, Hunan Lamb and Mandarin Chicken are some of my favorites. Also THE BEST Wonton Soup Ever.

I've been coming here for the past 8 or so years, it's very delicious. The sad part is that they used to have a lunch buffet but the health department considered that it was unsafe or unsanitary. . . I ate here many times just for that, and there were no problems with temperature of food or cleanliness. In fact, this is one of the most clean Chinese restaurants in town! They still have a lunch special, which offers the glazed chicken (I can't remember the name). It's a good place.

Waited for two hrs for delivery and then called with no answer.....then just gave up! What a disappintment!!!! Won't try this again and will let everyone I know not to either. Never had the opportunity to try the cuisine, but customer service and common courtesy are surely issues, no matter what the food is like. Never try this again.

I have dined at Chan Pheng for over fifteen years their food is wonderful. The Chef and the staff are warm and friendly. Their food is so wonderful that My Husband and I asked them to cater our wedding and we go back every year to celebrate our anniversary as well as birthdays and monthly dining we can't go a month without our Chan Pheng fix :)
